Post-natal Reflexology
For
both Women and Men
Fertility
issues arise for all sorts of reasons, it may be due to diet, weight,
stress or medical reasons.
Whatever the reason, Reflexology gently works on all the bodily systems
to bring it back into optimum health, which in turn enhances fertility.
Reflexology is a natural, gentle yet effective treatment which uses pressure
on the feet to bring the body into a state of optimum health, emotionally
and physically, an important aspect to anyone thinking of trying for a
baby.
Reflexology
can help couples with fertility problems by promoting blood circulation
around the body, strengthening the immune system and promoting good strong
health and vitality in the reproductive organs, which includes helping
to regulate periods, promote ovulation, reduce PMS, reduce the chances
of miscarriage and also help increase sperm quality and quantity.
Reflexology
also has a calming and grounding effect on the mind and body which naturally
helps reduce stress, something which can contribute to reduced fertility.
For
those couples who have chosen to undergo assisted reproductive techniques,
such as IVF, Reflexology can be used to help reduce the stress & emotional
unease and help prepare the body physically which can enhance the success
of such treatments.
Reflexology
may be offered during some assisted reproductive techniques but this would
be need to be discussed with myself and may need written consent from
your medical consultant.
I currently work with men and women trying to conceive, especially having
good results from women who have had a number of miscarriages. I pull
knowledge from different aspects of complementary medicine and I also
work within a clinic of practiotners from different fields who work with
and have an active keen interest in helping couples to concieve.
All
this helps to create an individual treatment plan for each one of my clients,
helping to achieve the best possible outcome for each and every one of
you.

How
Reflexology Can Help During Pregnancy [Top]
Reflexology
is beneficial for the mother 'to be', because it not only maintains general
well being and aids relaxation, it also helps relieve many pregnancy complaints
such as:
- hormonal
imbalances
-
morning sickness
-
back ache
- constipation
- breath
shortness
-
heartburn
-
pain in symphysis pubis
-
blood pressure problems
-
breech babies
-
back to back babies
-
fear
-
anxiety
-
stress
... and to add to all this, most babies born to mothers who have had reflexology
throughout their pregnancy are usually calm babies.
Reflexology helps mother and baby prepare (emotionally and physically)
for childbirth, creating a calm mind, a calm baby and a body which is
ready for the amazing process of childbirth. ….and if you run over
your due date Reflexology can be used to ‘encourage’ baby
to move on out!! (please note this is usually more effective in those
women having regular reflexology sessions throughout their pregnancy)
Babies respond very well to reflexology and they often have a good wriggle
around while I manipulate the ‘baby’ reflex in the feet. I
will also show you the ‘baby’ reflex, allowing you to follow
the growth of your baby in your feet!!! (yes you read that right!)
As pregnancy changes day to day, I work closely with your current needs
and offer reflexology treatments to cater for what you and your baby require,
whether that be a gentle pampering or a deep treatment to take that back
ache away!
Nearer
the time of childbirth I offer birth partners the chance to come in and
learn some reflexology techniques that can be useful to use during the
labour such as points which will help keep the labour progressing or good
grounding techniques to help promote calmness in the mother-to-be and
baby.
I have been privileged in training in maternity reflexology with one of
the best reflexologists in her field – Susanne Enzer (ex-midwife)
- and have been lucky enough to use such techniques on a number of pregnant
ladies to date, with fantastic results.
I
was attracted into Maternity Reflexology after experiencing the positives
it gave me through and after my pregnancy, it helped ease my back ache,
shortness of breath and I had a wonderful fast home birth.
Can I have Reflexology in the first trimester? [Top]
Reflexology is safe and very effective in this period and it will only
work in harmony with your bodies natural rhythms - naturally your body
is designed to hold onto your baby. If your body does decides to ‘let
go’, usually because of natural selection and protection, this is
a decision taken by nature and NOT by reflexology.
It is always best to listen to your intuition and I strongly feel if you
are worried about the treatment then wait till after 12 weeks-you still
have 28 weeks to go!
If you do have any concerns/worries/questions about this please feel free
to chat to me and I will be more than happy to answer and support you.
Post-natal reflexology [Top]
I know and appreciate this is a busy time for most women and all the more
reason for continuing or starting reflexology treatments.
Having reflexology after you have had your bundle of joy will mainly give
you precious ‘me time’ which will help recharge your ‘running
on low’ batteries.
On
a physical level it will help your body to relax and to re-heal itself
after the birth; it will help bring those hormones back into a state of
balance much sooner.
Reflexology
will also help bring your milk into the breasts and can help reduce the
uncomfortable feeling of ‘full breasts’, this can also help
reduce the risk of mastitis and will help in perfecting the art of breast
feeding.
If there were any complications during the birth these can also be addressed,
allowing your body and mind to heal fully.
I
can also offer advice on how to give your baby reflexology generally and
for specific issues such as colic, colds and crying. And babies are very
welcome to attend your reflexology sessions-they usually relax and enjoy
it too!
If you would like to discuss or book an appointment then please contact
me and I will be happy to help.
